Are you referring to pirating or actual streaming services? Of course with pirating folks are getting it for free but even with streaming I do feel the profit they're getting is next to nil.

Streaming services. I feel like at the very least streaming services have cut down a lot on pirating but they're still a huge ripoff for artists. I know labels take a big chunk of album sales but they're still important to the industry as a whole

You can get any music now free of charge even without resorting to pirating..

Youtube
Spotify
Pandora

Now obviously with some of these services if you want to listen to a certain song you are kind of SOL but you can get a lot of similar music for free. With Youtube you are talking about watching ads before the video which is "sorta paying for it".

A lot of music on YT is pirated, though, since many of the channels don't have the rights to stream it. And you can adblock YT to ensure that the artists don't see their fraction of a cent.
