A majority of votes say they haven't played a single Contra game. So they either missed out or just playing crappy Call of Duty games. The majority of voters aren't here. I suggest trying to track them down somewhere else. Preferably far away from here =p Can't remember if I ever played the original release, but it was available through Contra 4. Contra 4 is a great game. Let's talk about that instead. I also never beat that.
