It really sucks when you find out that a girl with whom you thought you got along well with, and whom you liked, was only pretending to be nice to you. If it were me, I'd ditch those hopes of being told that you're cute or being smiled at by her. It's going to only further the illusion that she's created for you--the illusion that she enjoys being around you. It's going to prove detrimental for your health, I think. But this is only the opinion of someone who has no social experience whatsoever, so take it with the tiniest grain of salt that you can find. Incidentally, I have experienced something somewhat similar before, so it's not entirely irrelevant, either.
