People convince themselves that it's "way better" and "very noticeable" because that's what they want to see. They want to be confident that they have the best, or that they didn't waste their money. It's all a load. Unless you have a TV that's like 70"+, you WILL NOT notice the difference between 1080p upscale and 4K. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise, they're just trying to justify their financial wastefulness.

You could also say that you're seeing what you want to see, which is a minimal difference so you can justify your decision to go with a cheaper alternative.

If it's not worth it for you, it's not worth it for you. That doesn't mean somebody else with a different set of eyes won't see a difference they think is worth the extra money.

I'm not, though. I don't buy things because they're cheap or because they're expensive. If it's better, it's better. 4K is not better than 1080 on small-medium screens, it's just a fact.

It's been proven time and again that the human eye CAN NOT see the differences that people claim to be able to see. Individual A is not special, their eyes are not above-human.
