They want to be confident that they have the best, or that they didn't waste their money. It's all a load. Unless you have a TV that's like 70"+, you WILL NOT notice the difference between 1080p upscale and 4K. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise, they're just trying to justify their financial wastefulness. You could also say that you're seeing what you want to see, which is a minimal difference so you can justify your decision to go with a cheaper alternative. If it's not worth it for you, it's not worth it for you.
