How about a white guy running a factory staffed mostly by poor Mexican immigrants? Clearly outnumbered, but he's still got all the power, so if he decides to be racist toward them, there's not much they can do about it. Flip it around and have a white guy working in a Mexican factory, though, and him being racist is much more likely to end up hurting him than anyone else. Yes, it's still "being racist" in both situations, but the impact varies dramatically based on the power dynamic in question. The person can still be racist, but it matters a whole lot less when they don't have any power to put behind it. --- This is my signature.
