I've heard of fiscally responsible grandparents and parents starting wedding funds to pay for weddings so the new couples don't start off in debt.

that isn't fiscally responsible. scaling the cost down is

The grandparents and parents usually aren't capable of affecting the cost of wedding services.

My wife and her aunts built all the flower arrangements. This helped reduce the overall cost but the price of a venue is the price unless you know people or your best man owns the place you got married.

Saving to help your children with their future wedding is very fiscally responsible. If that marriage never happens, that money can be used elsewhere.
