The widespread corruption in Catholicism is what caused the Reformation, and the Vatican II just changed a lot of the disciplines. It didn't change any doctrine or values of the Church It definitely did. Hence protestant denominations have different doctrines. One of the biggest is the shift away from considering clergy to be proxies of God, hence other denominations don't recognize the Pope. Zero_Maniac posted... That's not at all why theology exists. So people write PhD theses on reading a couple thousand pages and interpreting everything there literally without performing any additional interpretive steps or trying to contextualize it? --- This is my signature.
