ITT: People who don't know or enjoy the love of a loyal dog-mate.

I'm sorry for you.

I've had a few dogs in my life and I used to enjoy them when I was younger, but I'm over it now. The smells, constant need for walks, hair everywhere, picking up their shit for their entire life... no thanks. The thing I really don't understand is with young people who get out on their own and one of the first things they want to do is get a dog. Did they not have dogs growing up or something? Or maybe they were just completely oblivious to the negatives and had their parents do literally everything to take care of them?

This is why I don't like the coddling of dog owners so they can bring them into places that traditionally didn't used to have dogs. It's probably lowering the perception of what kind of burdens ownership entails. I don't care if people want to have dogs, but they shouldn't expect to bring them into work where they might be with people who aren't fans of them. If leaving the dog at home when they're at work is an issue for them, that should be their problem, not mine.
