Because nip slips happen to prude celebrities who don't usually bare themselves and have coitus for pay. So there's a sense of accomplishment and perversity in seeing them nipples.

Why are we so weird when it comes to sports?

Soccer is nothing here, despite being the undisputed king internationally.

Two of our major sports, baseball and football, are very different and strange spinoffs of older games, and haven't made much splash internationally. Baseball has some prescence outside the US, in parts of Latin America and Japan, but is still mostly a US thing. American football is just nothing outside the US (lol CFL).

Meanwhile, another of our major sports, basketball, is completely our own invention, and is the only one that made it big internationally.

So why are we so unique when it comes to our tastes in sports?

Good question.

It goes way back to 1776, when the US proclaimed its independence. The UK along with its cronies put many, multicultural embargoes in an effort to coerce US into going back to the UK. This includes restriction on attending international sports competitions. So the US was banned from the World Cup and other sporting events in the 18th century and early 19th century. The unsatisfied youth populace went like 'We'll invent our own sports! With blackjack and hookers!'. The earliest forms of Baseball, Basketball, and Football do include a round of blackjack to determine the playing order, and hookers to give relief to the players inbetween rounds. Overtime, the blackjack was cut for being untimely and the hookers become the modern tradition of cheerleaders (which, as you might notice, are also mostly big in the US).
