Diversify your ammo types so you don't end up with a bullet famine early on and no money to buy more. Yeah, I did that immediately. Luckily the game gives you starting weapons based off proficiency, so there was no real slip-ups. (Well, other than the medic starting with a stick, but she wasn't meant to be a combat specialist anyway.)
