Because the ones in America sure don't. At least not for years. The only two people that ever got successful off these shows that I'm aware of are Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Jennifer Hudson had a pretty good run as well but isn't an all-star celebrity and probably won't ever be one at this point. While a lot of them have gone on to get decent jobs / paid for their acts, none of them are household names the way other pop stars are.
