Christianity, or rather Catholicism was a big thing back then and this was the time period where the king separated from the church pope in rome and did his own church of england, something called a reform, which I'm told is basically what is now protestant. It's a large part of the show and to a non religion person like me very entertaining to see. Plus I'll admit there's a lot of titillation since it's a showtime series after all. --- ...
