I already addressed this, you can't tell me it's optional when the game is built with it in mind. NG+ in RE4 was optional. It is not in RE5.

But it is still optional. When you're done with the game for the first time, it's not like it locks you out from ever restarting from scratch.

You literally cannot start from scratch. You carry over any inventory, cash, and treasure wherever you go; even if you could sell everything (not sure you can sell the tactical vest) and manage to zero it out your money somehow, the shop is still fully unlocked with all weapon upgrades available, whereas on a fresh playthrough your weapon choices and upgrade paths are throttled by your progress.

That's not the player's choice, that's the game's design. That's not optional, it's forced.
