back when i was a brand new driver, had just got my license and my first car. i was driving in my car and trying to get to work. there was a turtle in the road and some people pulled over on the side of the road to take the turtle. being a new driver, i did not feel comfortable stopping in the middle of the street yet in case someone else came behind me. so i thought i could just line the turtle up with the underneath part of my car and drive over it without any incident and they could grab it when i passed.
the problem was i didn't really know where my tires lined up quite yet because i had only just started driving on my own and this was my first car. so instead of the turtle going underneath me and i ran it over. and i was really afraid so i just kept driving.
to the poor people stopped it probably looked like i swerved and hit it on purpose and just drove away. i feel really horrible about it every time i think about it but it was really due to my inexperienced driving.
the worst thing is that road was in a really rural area so if i had been more confident or just an experienced driver like i am now, i totally could have just stopped and waited for them to take the turtle and block that lane for them. but i just didn't feel comfortable with it back then.
