in a lot of places the restricted access to painkillers has also led to a lot of people turning to heroin as a cheap replacement for the same kind of high. blaming health care professionals for this aspect, for example, just seems to make very little sense. what would they stand to gain from this? unless you believe the doctors are actually the ones out there on the streets slinging heroin. there's no clear motive and no evidence that such a thing is happening.

over prescription of pain killers was definitely a mistake and led to a lot of problems. the attempts to correct the problem have largely been taken advantage of by dealers since it created a situation they turned into an even more favorable market. but acting like this was all master orchestrated by a room full of cold, calculating board room directors who somehow stand to turn a profit by drug dealers becoming rich makes almost no logical sense.
