Was Robin Hood written 2017 years ago though? I thought it was much, much later than that, like in the 1400's

It's actually a folk tale spread orally much before that. The story takes place around the third crusade, IIRC, but probably dates to after. Likely, though, it is probably a reworking of some older legend.

Anyway, point is, the Bible took thousands of years of careful planning and highly structured propaganda to spread. At no point did someone just dig up a copy and go 'Gee, look, a new way of life!".

Comparatively, The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the oldest written stories, and people have not believed it to be factual for thousands of years.

Interesting, i'm pretty ignorant to this kind of thing, I was genuinely curious. I often do wonder, that elaborate stories translated over and over across a span of 2000 years and how many generations of man, that the credibility of what it is now compared to what it was intended to be is entirely discombobulated. It's like when you play that game in elementary school, and the teacher whispers something in your ear, and each kid whispers it to the next, and at the end of the line, the last kid says something so far off from what was originally said.

Yeah, I get that. I just see so many factors working against that specific scenario that it is improbable, bordering on impossible;
- The internet needs to end.
- Society needs to regress to around a late medieval era level. Despite this, we still need advanced archeological practices, ancient linguistic skills, and the knowledge and ability to work a DVD player.
- All context clues have to disappear. That means all records of discussions, all posters, all documentaries, all toys, all costumes, etc. Yet, despite two millennia of atrophy, a single DVD needs to survive, and only a single DVD.
- Language needs to stagnate for 2,000 years. In reality, language has evolved even in our lifetimes. Books written in the early 1900's can prove challenging for novice readers. In fact, we can't even read English from the 600's without training. This is still in a scenario where something has wiped out all recording technology and the internet. Alternatively, people in said medieval society need to have knowledge of a 2,000 year old language.
It would just be so ridiculously contrived. Basically, someone would have to purposely set up the scenario, in which case the authoritative party would need to actually be aware of the fraud.
