Layers of Fear had no combat, it was a real scary walking SIM with simple puzzles that are contained completely in individual rooms. The Evil Within has complex menus and combat but really really easy puzzles. Silent Hill 2 had an option to turn off combat and another option to make puzzles easier. But otherwise it was as complicated as a Resident Evil. Resident Evil 5 and 7 had almost no back tracking, they had puzzles but the answers were all near by. Way different from the old ones.
