Do you think the Death Penalty should be abolished?

Yes, except for leaders of terrorist groups, criminal organizations, etc. The death penalty is a barbaric practice with no place in civilized society *except* when applied to people who pose a continued risk even when imprisoned (El Chapo, for instance, who was repeatedly imprisoned only to escape)

Terrible choice in last meals, although I guess knowing you're going to die ruins the appetite anyway.

I'm against it, except for when I'm not?

I'm against it except in matters of state with criminals who can't be safely contained. If my provisions were placed, it'd be effectively outlawed since it would might be used once in 30 or 40 years. Likewise, it would overcome some of the strongest objections to the penalty, such as the possibility of killing an innocent.

Basically, I'm against it as a form of punishment (because it's barbaric and can kill innocent men), but I'm more amenable when it comes to national security and for people who pose a continued threat to society despite being incarcerated. For instance, if Bernie Sanders mobilized Antifa and other terrorist groups to overthrow the US government, it likely wouldn't be safe to merely imprison Bernie Sanders because his supporters would rally and try to break him out. El Chapo, the leader of a murderous cartel who repeatedly escaped prison, is another great example. If you can't contain the leader of a violent organization responsible for countless murders, you need to execute them.

America is practically the only first world country that still has capital punishment. It's time to join the rest of the civilized world and get rid of it.

One of the few times I'm okay with peer pressure.

too many innocent people on death row for me to still support the death penalty. It's scary how many times people have turned out to be innocent. We can't risk killing innocent people

This.
