The Civil War was about slavery, regardless of what you white supremacist jackasses claim. Also black people fought for the confederacy, They were forced to because they were still slaves. a lot of these monuments are to honor the dead who fought and died, It's honoring traitors. Those monuments didn't go up immediately after the war; they went up 100 years later, right in the middle of Jim Crow. They didn't go up to honor the dead; they went up because of racism. should they be forgotten just because? They wont be in history books. Yes. And they are in history books; they're in there as the side that lost. Robert E Lee was a total scumbag who was also responsible for the genocide of Native Americans.
