Why do people want to erase history? I don't see the logic. This particular monument was really a death marker with the names of confederate soldiers and slaves that died at a prison camp on it. This isn't even a monument celebrating some famous general or anything.


You're celebrating history of a side that lost a war.

Those monuments all went up at the height of Jim Crow laws. They went up because of racism, not to celebrate history.

The war wasnt about human rights, black people were still treated like shit even in the north after the war.

Also black people fought for the confederacy, a lot of these monuments are to honor the dead who fought and died, should they be forgotten just because? They wont be in history books.
