I don't care if you get a cat or not OP, I love cats they're wonderful animals and great companions. I was never given the information I'm telling you and I ended up really hating having an indoor cat, even though I loved the cat herself. I transitioned her to an outside life and she is very happy and healthy, she still greets me every day. For me, my dog is my indoor companion and my cats stay outside. For some people having indoor cats is great. Different strokes for different folks.
