The room that the litter box is in will always smell like litter - it doesn't matter how clean you keep it, brand new litter out of the box has an odor in order to cover up the odor of cat feces. Or you could get unscented litter, and after the first dookie boom your house smells like cat crap until you take it outside. Plus there will always be small bits of litter on the floor that the cat tracks out of the box with it, and most cats spray litter everywhere digging in the box.
