I wanted LASIK. Contacts were very uncomfortable for me. They would slip off-center during the day, dry out, or get kinda gooey when my allergies were bad. If I got dust in my eye, sometimes the dust would get stuck underneath the contact, and I'd have to take it out and wash it. It was just really annoying. Glasses also distort everything since they're farther from the back of your eyes.

Since I'm 23 and have a strong prescription/astigmatism, I was not a candidate for LASIK. My corneas are thinner than most, and there would be a high chance of macular degradation in my 40s. Instead, I got ICL- Implantable Collamer Lenses, which are collagen lenses they install behind your cornea through a 2mm incision.

The surgery was totally painless. You'll usually be given both Valium and 6 rounds of numbing eye drops for any corrective surgical procedure. You won't feel a thing, and you'll be relaxed. Almost every LASIK center in the country does bladeless LASIK now, so you don't have to worry about having your eyes cut. They will draw on your eyes with a marker though so they know where to use their laser.

I highly recommend corrective surgery. My vision is the best it's ever been, and it's so much more comfortable than before. Really astounding.
