Nobody likes showing off their report card unless they know they're doing exceptionally well and then, if they know somebody is doing far worse than them, they might feel a little bashful when discussing their grades. And then, on a more pragmatic level, most people don't pay enough attention to their overall expenses, debts, obligations, etc, to really get a good idea of their personal wealth. They know their salary, they have a rough idea of household expenses, but they don't really plan their finances. In general, though, it's awkward to ask and it's awkward to just volunteer it.
