Define immortal, a lack of natural causes? Can you still be killed via damage or injury?
I don't think anyone should be immortal, the rich would be always have access to it.
That serum would be the literal end of the world. Hopefully whomever invented it would be quickly and quietly killed before he/she could publicize it.
how would it end the world?
Catastrophic population growth, depletion of natural resources, overcrowding, massive pollution/climate change. It's not like people are suddenly going to stop having children just because they can no longer die.
like, what you need natural resources for? what the pollution and climate going to do to an immortal?
We still need space, and without people becoming worm food, our already dwindling livable areas would fill up faster. Yay, I live forever, but I can't get where I'm going for all the people or have to live in Antarctica to get some breathing room.
And natural resources doesn't just mean food. Paper, metals, lumber, oil for plastics, all stuff made from limited materials that would now have to meet an infinity growing demand. That of course implies what we'd give up food because we don't need it. In reality, most of us like to eat for enjoyment.
Pollution may not kill you, but it still fucks with comfort levels.
This guy gets it. The entire planet would look like Brazil's "City of God" favela. Hooray, just how I want to live for eternity! ---
