Given that Hasbro created the franchise to sell toys (as was the custom at the time... and, well, to some extent, still is), that's not really a saturation issue =p No, I get that about the cartoon being used to sell toys, but I didn't see the merchandise everywhere when I was a kid, and the amount of merchandise I did see wasn't inversely related to how smart the person was that wore the shirts or masks (or carried the figurines around). Since the Bay movies, there's been a ton of that crap everywhere, and moreso around people who I swear permeate stupidity to the point of your brains getting sucked in when you stand anywhere near them.
