Pretty much this. They had the Secret Service questioning Ted Nugent over a remark he made about Obama.

The Ted Nugent parallel is what makes me shake my head about this whole thing.

Left-leaning celebrity makes a video clip with a mock-up severed head? Gets dropped by advertisers and slammed by all and sundry.

Right-leaning celebrity makes remarks literally calling the President a "subhuman mongrel" and advocating executing him via hanging (along with a vague threat that he'd kill Obama himself)? Gets invited to dinner at the White House by Trump.

There seems to be a bit of dissonance in these reactions.

The WH invitation happened years after he made the comment. Unless you expect that Kathy Griffin is never going to find work again, it's an insincere claim. Likewise, what could they even cancel of Nugent's? Does he even do anything besides NRA appearances nowadays? But sure, if we're comparing the two, Nugent's offcuff comments and allusions earned him an investigation whereas Griffin got a free pass from the government.

All I'm saying is I didn't see the paroxysms of apoplexy from the right over Nugent's remarks that I'm seeing over Griffin's. Either be outraged over both or be outraged over neither, because the only difference between them was the political affiliation of their target.

And call me crazy, but I think calling the President a subhuman mongrel should probably warrant an (unofficial) lifetime ban from being invited to White House events. But there's me assuming politicians should have a sense of decency...
