Theater to DVD/Blu-Ray is much faster than it once was with VHS. there's still some that take an obscenely long time though Depends on the studios as it's not universal. The trend now is towards faster release for home viewing. I recall many movies taking more than 6 months to be released after the theater run ended. Jurassic Park was 16 months. From what I can see looking out up studios aim for 16 weeks after release at this time, with some being shorter.
