It is if the root cause is neurochemical. This isn't something you can make a blanket statement about; treatment plans need to be developed on a case-by-case basis (which is itself a blanket statement, but meh).

Most normal people work their way out of problems. They don't sedate themselves with addictive drugs to make the pain go away.


Most normal people just leave their appendix where it is and don't have problems with it. That doesn't mean the appendix shouldn't be removed from people suffering from acute appendicitis. It's posts like that that make me hope beyond hope that you're lying about being medically inclined, because you consistently demonstrate that you care more for haughtily imposing your own misguided ideals on people than actually helping them get better.
