if someone came to me and said; write a story that starts with a guy that likes a lady. he told her "eh?" but she was like "m-mm."

i would have it be that first off he was completely open and honest. he would tell her all his feels and how those feels made him feel. not flowery exaggerated made up bullshit trying to scheme and get his way; real stuff. she would shrug, not mind it much, and still pursue his company. he would be a gentlemen, and gentlemanly so, accept her company politely. he would carry on valuing that friendship for what it was. in carrying on keeping the company of the lady; he would not jab or insist the way he feels for her persistently, but if a fond-ful pang for her arose suddenly. if genuine, he would express it now and again. it would have to be real and not part of a calculated agenda to wear her down. doing so also in part because stifled pangs beget poison and sorrow. either their relationship would grow platonic roots and sooth his ills of amative sickness in time, or something more might bloom. perhaps because he laid bare and clean all the wounds of his heart with is his confession, and subsequent honest admissions, over time his breaks would mend and turn to strength. perhaps even with his lady friend at his six. lady friends do make the best wingmen when seeking love. & ehhhhvreeeeone would live haaaaapy ever after.
