this is an example of an ad hominem argument, the last resort of those who have realized they have no way to argue with an opposing point. it's typically the strategy of bullies who think that they can distract their audience from a subject by ridiculing their opponent rather than responding to his argument.

it's not something that should have any place in modern discourse, because it is essentially an attempt to deceive the reader by changing the subject to something completely unrelated.

despite his background, xsquader presented a valid point and data supporting it. no refutation has been made. balrog0 has posted similar ideas in the past and I've always found the concept of basic income very interesting.
