I guess since I'm starting to lean slightly Right these days...

1. Leave the decision to accommodate trans-folk to the individual businesses. If Macy's wants a gender neutral bathroom or to allow trans-folk to use their preferred bathroom, then that's up to Macy's, etc. For bathrooms in State buildings, let each state decide for themselves.

2. I'm okay with gays getting married through civil ceremonies and receive all of the rights and privileges due to them associated with that contract. However, I'm also okay with private religious institutions and businesses refusing to provide for the service.

3. I think even a fetus should have some rights. I think that women who become pregnant as a result of their own choices should be obligated, within reason, to take responsibility for and accommodate the fetus/unborn child. In the case of rape, I'm okay with her seeking an abortion because it was a pregnancy put upon her by force, rather than her own choices. I don't think it's fair to force people to shoulder undue burdens put upon them by others anymore than we have to. I'm willing to compromise with early pregnancy terminations.

4. I'm okay with a miscarriage tried as a murder if there's good reason to believe there was malicious intent and forethought. Particularly when the unborn died as a result of the mother being physically assaulted. Say, someone beats the crap out of a pregnant woman and has a miscarriage as a result. Charge the person or people who attacked her with murder. I think you'd need a really good reason and a strong case to charge the woman with intentionally causing a miscarriage.

To clarify, even if I'm starting to lean Right these days, I think I'm realistic in the sense that almost everyone is for both big and small government. Or, rather, they want the government strong in some areas and weak in others. I'm not going to pretend I'm for Small Government all around.
