It's really more about this than anything...

Marriages typically fall apart if one or both partners are unwilling to make any compromises.
If you go in thinking "you change for no man " or "you'll never change for a woman "....well, no wonder you're divorced 2-5 years later.

Marriage is generally a balancing act revolving around both participants staying satisfied enough to continue. What that requires can change day by day. Which means a LOT of compromises, years of compromises.

If the couple can't maintain that, it's not really successful. It's trickling down until it dissolves.
