It's about time we got rid of the filibuster. Both sides have been bitching about it for years.

Just because a republicans are getting rid of it, everyone getting all partisan politics up in here.

No it's just calling out hypocrisy. Why didn't they try to get rid of it before? They had the opportunity to for awhile. They kept it because at the time it benefitted them. And you can say "but liberals would do it too!" And and they should be held to the same standards...but that isn't what happened here. Hold the ones who did it accountable. Don't say "they would have done it too!"...that just gives both sides more power to do shit like this.

Somebody forgets that the Democrats were the first party to ever filibuster a supreme court nominee and one of the people involved in said filibuster was a former black president.

We don't live in a perfect world. At least the fillibuster is going away. Take what positives you can from a situation.

I'm not sure that's actually a plus.

The filibuster was never a rule to begin with, just a mutually accepted gentleman's agreement about Senate procedure.

To be fair, I can't remember the last time either party legitimately filibustered a Supreme Court nominee, so Democrats were kinda pushing their luck a bit by going that direction.

The only time in US history that it's happened was to GWB's nomination of Alito in 2006, which was back when the Dems were abusing the filibuster to obstruct Republicans. (Oh, supposedly it may have happened in some form to LBJ's nomination.)
