Universities and individuals pay for subscriptions, researchers pay journals to include their work for publication, and journals utilize researchers as a free resource for peer review. But it's not like people can protest and be like 'I'm no longer gonna publish in these journals' because you'd be sacrificing your career. For the most part, if you require access to the historical papers, you'll have it for free because you'll be part of a university that includes it as a benefit. I think starting some kind of NPO to have kind of an open source journal would be a great idea. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
