Perhaps. But it's really a matter of perception. Almost everything we do in life revolves around meeting our own needs and wants....And there's nothing wrong with that. In the end, it is what it is. If we were micro analyse the motive for each and every thing single thought or action, then nothing would really matter. No one would matter.

It really isn't, it's a matter of morals, and you want to bring people in to the world to shoulder a burden, treating them as a tool rather than human.

Morals are a state of mind and people have different opinions on that. Laws just enforce them (mostly).

Personally speaking, I agree with you. I think children are a joy to have but a huge responsibility. If I were to be a parent, I'd love my children wholeheartedly but I would also like it if they'd remember me in my old age and care for me too. I don't think it's a negative point to WANT my kids to care for me in my old age. In my household we view this as reciprocity and our responsibility.

My parents loved me and sacrificed for me. I'd do the same for them. Regardless of their personal motivations, I'm ok with it. My mum tells me this all the time; that one day she'd grow old and weak and asks whether I'd "adopt" her and dad. I wholeheartedly said YES. I want to. I love them and it's my duty to protect them when they'd need it.
