Morals are a state of mind and people have different opinions on that. Laws just enforce them (mostly). Personally speaking, I agree with you. I think children are a joy to have but a huge responsibility. If I were to be a parent, I'd love my children wholeheartedly but I would also like it if they'd remember me in my old age and care for me too. I don't think it's a negative point to WANT my kids to care for me in my old age. In my household we view this as reciprocity and our responsibility. My parents loved me and sacrificed for me. I'd do the same for them. Regardless of their personal motivations, I'm ok with it. My mum tells me this all the time; that one day she'd grow old and weak and asks whether I'd "adopt" her and dad. I wholeheartedly said YES. I want to.
