I remember enough about it that I doubt playing it again will change. There really wasn't a point to getting all 120 stars in Mario 64 either besides playground rumors that you could play as Yoshi once you did it, which were never once true.

Yeah, you needed at least 70 to complete IIRC, which actually isn't that many. But you could at least choose which of those 70 you wanted to get, and it was nice having all the various doors with a number of stars instead of just watching things seemingly unlock at random with a cutscene. I think Sunshine required even less to beat the game. I don't remember my exact number, but I think it was in the 60s, and that was even with some extraneous stars I got before I know how it worked.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that I hated how you had to do missions one at a time, and in order. SM64 only had a few like that, but for the most part you could get any star at any time, regardless of which star you selected. And that isn't really something a remaster could fix without fundamentally changing the nature of the missions.

Things I remember about it are not likely to be remedied by another play. Like, speaking of Yoshi, how he is a juicer in that game. How many coin missions there are. The setting is so bland yet unrelenting. Janitorial gameplay.

Oh yeah, Yoshi is pretty much pointless. I think he's only used for small parts of a couple missions, and other than that he's optional but it's not even fun or satisfying to use him.

This game is pretty much a trainwreck. Everything specific about it is mediocre-to-poorly-done, but having basic Mario 3D gameplay is something inherently decent enough at its core that it doesn't come off as a terrible game.
