The closest I've heard is something like "So you used to work at ____?" but that's usually a rhetorical question that's meant to be interpreted as "Tell me about what you did at ____". If a company wants to know if you're not lying about your work history, they ask for your previous employers' contact info and whether or not you can contact them on the application. ...
