It can be confusing at first, especially going in blind, but once you get the hang of it it becomes one of the most enjoyable works of fiction ever produced. Just keep in mind that it's written to be a text based adventure game and uses abstract game mechanics as if they're common place. If you're not understanding something it's probably because you weren't meant to just yet. There's a reason why "you'll get it in a thousand pages" is a common thing said in my group of friends.
Yeah I "get" what's going on, and I am digging the quirky adventure game mechanics and stuff, it's just really strange. Like now I'm reading Problem Sleuth and I have no idea how long this random sub-plot sub-game sub-comic goes for.
