*sigh* At the risk of giving Board 8 more ammo against me, as if they couldn't fill a warehouse with it now, this is the most distinct possibility, unless you're undershooting.
There are generally three types of women who use online dating services. (Here be anecdotes)
1) Hot girls that really have no business being there, do not take their profile with any degree of seriousness. If they do talk to you, contact will end abruptly at some point.
2) Good looking, but socially awkward girls. They might share some interests with you. Nightmarish to talk to because they seem to be intentionally evasive and have no real interest in actually going beyond talking about dumb crap online.
3) Whales.
