People give a s*** about spinoff books?
I always assumed spinoff books were always just thought to be non-canon.
There's nothing inherently wrong with work-for-hire or tie-in fiction. One of America's best living authors wrote a Predator book. Tobias Buckell, a very talented writer, wrote a Halo book. Occasionally, companies will put talented people behind these projects. Admittedly, that's fairly rare, and most cases of tie-in fiction are simply cash grabs. But hey! Not always!
Indeed. It's a rare thing but it happens.
