Characters: In my opinion the absolute high point of the game. I felt the characters were all individuals with their own unique design and personality. Were some of them a little trope-y? Sure. But they all worked and they all brought something important to the table. The dialog could have been better in some spots, but overall it works just fine. I even found myself not hating Hope. I mean, I didn’t like him, but I didn’t loath him either. And for a kid character I’d say that’s A+ work.
Lightning: Going in to FFXIII I was 100% positive Lightning was going to be my new favorite FF character. And she very much delivered. She basically just punched people in the face whenever she felt like it.
Snow: Good VA, cool design. I’ve never been a fan of the cheerful male hero type character, but I liked Snow.
Sazh: Chocobo fro! Sazh made me laugh more than anyone else in the game. He had some pretty good one liners, and the scene in Nautilus with he and Vanille was really well done in my opinion. I was actually shocked when he turned the gun on himself.
Hope: Eh. I actually liked the little mentor relationship he had with Lightning. It was kind of cute. The whole vendetta against Snow for half the game was kind of poorly done in my opinion though.
Vanille: So adorbs. And despite popular opinion I actually liked her voice. Not the cookie cutter kawaii desu~ voice those types of characters usually get. The delivery could have been a bit better, but overall props.
Fang: What even has to be said about Fang? Possibly the greatest character of all time let’s be honest. Blindsided me and completely trumped Lightning.

Fang > Lightning >>> Vanille > Sazh > Snow > Hope
Overall score: 9.5/10. Hope being a little kid and Snow being cheesy drag it down slightly.

Music: Very good. This might be the first video game that has music that might find its way to my iPod eventually. Especially enjoy Fang’s theme and Vanille’s theme. Only thing that was a little weird sometimes were some dungeons with Sazh. The jazz thing is cool but didn’t fit with the setting at all. It was just kind of a strange atmosphere. I even thought the Leona Lewis song was well placed >__>

Overall score: 9/10

Graphics: I would have loved to have a few more cinematic cut scenes because they were so beautiful I thought my eyes were going to melt out of my face. For example the grand prix scene in Eden. Yeah. Basically amazing.

Overall score: 8/10. Graphics were good, but I wish there were just more cut scenes and that some of them were longer. I felt like I did a lot of killing and didn’t get a lot of pay off.

Overall: 8.5. I’d actually give the overall experience of the game more like a 9.5/10. I liked the linearity, I liked the lack of side quests, and I liked pretty much everything about what was going on in front of me.

Question. What was up with Fang straight up going to murder Vanille there at the end? I really was not understanding what they were going for there.
