The first episode was pretty good, but the second was hilariously bad. I'll expect more of the bad!
I thought "Encounter at Farpoint" showed promise but it was pretty slaughtered by horrendous overacting. The part where Riker and Troi begin communicating telepathically, their lines are so positively cringe-worthy.
Expect more bad, Lockes. Seriously, the show gets pretty good (but never stops being badly uneven) around season three but until then it's a rough ride.
There are a handful of decent episodes early on though.
