Fun Fact: Staraptor is the only Flying-type Pokémon that can learn the moves Close Combat or Final Gambit.
Staraptor is one of the cooler generic bird pokemon and almost certainly the most useful in competitive play and watching it use Close Combat in the anime is one of the most hilarious things possible. I'm a little disappointed that I let the "generic bird" stigma keep me from using Staraptor in my Diamond or Platinum playthrough, but I'll probably pick one up if I ever bother playing through Platinum again. It's also got the second most awesome generic bird design. Could probably be a few places higher if people hadn't nominated a lot of stuff I like.
