What jobs does it help him compete for? Too many people with bachelor's degrees for an associate's degree to really equip someone to compete.
Clerical work and the like.
Also, switch "associate degree" with "technical certificate" and you open up about 100 career paths. Not saying it's great work or high-paying, but certainly better than slangin'.
