using the results of a poll with Obama vs a "generic Republican" is quite possibly the stupidest thing you could possibly do
Generics always poll higher because people will just project what they want onto one and ignore anything bad. All of the republicans are terrible terrible candidates so it really doesn't matter how well a generic republican does
It's more telling of how awful Obama is now and how his popularity is dead.
