Better yet, I'll explain it with Star Wars. See, in the 70s, George Lucas was incredibly popular, moreso than "Generic Sci Fi Director". But today, George has made a lot of crappy decisions and not many good ones and a lot of people would prefer Generic Sci Fi Director over George Lucas on just about any given project.
