I don't understand why everyone is giving you so much crap about the list. If they disagree they should make their own crappy list that won't draw 1/5th of the interest.
Eh, Chris, I think you're underestimating how much of a draw "Smurf list" is in this equation and how much of the draw is actually just someone pretentiously making an objective list of the users of b8. Smurf likes to think that it's his name that's drawing people, but I'm pretty sure he used to run UotY and then the thing didn't lose a single step when someone else took it over. There are three draws here:
1. He's talking about people on b8, and follows through on it, eventually.
2. LISTZ
3. His attitude is that he's being "objective" and isn't being humble about it which makes people feel more free to roast him when he makes a stupid choice.
Hell if you had a total no namer doing this list I'd think they'd arguably get more attention simply because you'd have a bunch of people saying "who the hell are you and what makes you think you have the right to be objective on this." Reason why you don't see these things often from non Smurf individuals is it takes a very specific person to care enough and be aware that point 3 is a good approach to take to generate interest (good or bad, and I know Smurf doesn't care which side he's getting). Ed did one of these to a similar amount of activity at one point. You could argue Ed Bellis is also someone who "would drum more than 1/5 the interest" but seeing how random nobodies can make random controversial topics for 500 I maintain that making hot button topics is more about knowing b8 psychology than popularity.
As for why I'm not doing it? Don't care enough to make any sort of list about b8 users. Making fun of Smurf lists is always fun, though! It's more fun to play dumb and argue about it than to say "oh well it's bad but I knew it was going to be."
